This city is a good option for enjoying some well-deserved days of relaxation. Find out more about the cultural offer, heritage and places to visit with the suggestions from Termas de Chaves.
There is no shortage of reasons to visit this historic town, located in the Alto Tâmega sub-region. Relaxing in the thermal baths, taking part in the free summer events and exploring the must-see places are just some of the activities you can do here.
The Balneário Flaviense is the ideal place to recharge your batteries. As well as a diverse range of spa activities, it also offers various Short Stay Programmes, ideal for taking care of your health in just a few days. But before you enter the facilities, Largo das Caldas, where you'll find the famous Buvete and the Fonte do Povo, invites you to have a glass of Água Termal Flaviense and relax.
On a cultural level, the summer is marked by free concerts in the city. From 5 to 8 July, during the City Festivities, you can watch the Flavienses 'Chaves En'Dança' and the concerts by Quatro e Meia, Nena and Função Públika. The city is also hosting the N2 Festival, a musical event featuring well-known national and international artists. On 1, 2 and 3 August, names such as Lolli Wren, Nenny and Tiago Bettencourt will take to the stage.
If you prefer a trip back in time, the 10th edition of the Peoples' Festival takes place from 16 to 18 August, in a recreation of Roman times. Over the three days, the Gallic peoples, gladiators, senators and dancers will be represented, portraying the daily life of ancient Aquae Flaviae.
For a more complete experience, a visit to the must-see sights, such as the Roman Bridge of Trajan, Chaves Castle and the Public Garden, is a must. For more information, the Termas de Chaves APP, available for iOS and Android, offers the possibility of planning a stay with a simple click.
