Located in the Trás-os-Montes region, Chaves offers an unparalleled range of delicacies.

The delights of Chaves cuisine start with the famous Pastel de Chaves: salty, light and with calf from the region. Then, we have smoked meat, excellent for snacking but also used in the Arroz de Fumeiro (rice), which is creamy and dipped in vegetables from the region. They go through tradition, with the Folar de Chaves and the ham, and are served with a Trás-os-Montes strong and structured red wine that reminds us of the freshness of the mountains surrounding the city of Chaves.

If your mouth is watering, remember that you can't miss the Smoked Meat Festival in February and the Feira dos Santos in late October or early November.
